How to create news articles for your Member App

In light of the recent developments around COVID-19, you may be wondering the best way to communicate changes on your schedule to your clients, or maybe you want to let your clients know that you'll be closing down for a few weeks and what they can expect to happen to their membership? Adding news to your Member App is a great way to do this.

Please note;

The Member App and Standalone App are not available on all Glofox packages; for more information or to upgrade, please contact us at customersuccess@glofox.com or reach out to your Glofox Onboarding Manager.

To add 'News' to your 'Member App' or 'Standalone App', follow these steps;

  1. From the dashboard, go to the 'Connect' tab
  2. Click on the 'News' tab
  3. Click '+Add'
  4. Select whether you would like to create a video or image post
    • If you select a video, enter the URL for the video (Must be hosted on another site, e.g. YouTube) 
    • If you select an image, upload the image file 
  5. Give your news post a title
  6. Add descriptive tags to your post. For example;  COVID19, News, etc. (Tags will help your members find what they're searching for with ease)
  7. Click 'Save'

Please note;

It may take a few minutes for images to appear in your news articles. If you are having issues, try clearing your cache and hitting refresh. 

Adding images into your news articles

It is possible to add an image to the body of your 'News' article, however, it must be hosted on another site and linked in. To do that, follow these steps; 

  1. From the dashboard, go to the 'Connect' tab
  2. Then go the 'News' tab
  3. Click on the 'News' you want to edit (or add a new one)
  4. Now locate the image you want to add in online, for example, we've used the Glofox logo which is nested on the Glofox website
  5. Right-click on the image and select, 'Open Image in New Tab' (This verbiage might differ depending on the browser you are using) 
  6. From the new tab, copy the URL of the image 
  7. Go back to the 'Message' and click the icon representing an image  Screenshot_2020-01-16_at_15.59.38.png
  8. Paste in the image URL, you will now see the image in your 'Message' 
  9. Click 'Save'

How to increase engagement on News articles

Once you are happy with your News article, you can send a Push Message to your Clients to let them know it's there. To do this, follow these steps; 

You can send a push notification with ease from any tab of the dashboard. To do that, click the speech bubble in the top right corner of the screen and a pop-up box will appear. bubble_button.gif

 

After clicking the bubble button mentioned above, continue to these steps;

  1. From the drop-down menu beside 'Send this message to,' you should select 'Send to everyone.'
  2. Write your message e.g., Urgent - Gym Closure Update' and let them know your Video/Article is available in the News section of their Member App
  3. Decide if this is a marketing message or not
  4. Click 'Send'
