New: pause Memberships billed on the 1st of the month

It’s now possible to pause unlimited monthly recurring Memberships that are set up to be billed on the first of the month, these Memberships are often referred to as Pro-Rata or Prorated Memberships.

This new enhancement makes it even easier to manage your Memberships because you can now offer more flexibility to your Members.

It’s important to note that these Memberships can only be paused in monthly increments. If your Member wants to come back to your studio before the month pause has finished, you can edit the reactivation date. More on this below.

Please note:

  • As you can only pause for 1 month at a time, the payment date will never change from the 1st of the month.
  • Currently, the only membership types that can be paused are recurring memberships. This includes both a regular recurring membership and service credit packs that have been set to recur. Single & restricted memberships cannot be paused at this time.

How to Custom Charge for an early reactivation

When you edit a start date on a Membership billed on the first of the month, you are not editing the payment. Therefore, you might want to custom charge your member for the extra time they have gained access to your studio.

For example, if your member paused for 2 months, but halfway through month two, they want to come back to class (6-week pause), you will likely want to custom charge them for the additional 2 weeks that are unaccounted for. So if a Membership is $50 a month, you will custom charge your member $25.

To do this, follow these steps:

  1. Go to your client's profile from the 'Clients' tab or via 'Global Search'
  2. Click the 'Custom Charge' button
  3. Add the amount the charge should be and select the payment method: cash, card, bank transfer, etc (in this case the custom charge will be half of the price of the membership they are currently on)
  4. Add a description to your custom charge e.g. Membership Reactivation - 2-week fee
  5. Click 'Charge'

This charge will be visible under the 'Transactions' tab of your member's profile, for future reference and will be visible in your 'Transaction' report.
