Member Self-pause for Memberships

Follow

Members with an active recurring membership can now pause their own membership directly from the Glofox Member App or Web Portal — no need to contact the studio.

Studio admins control whether this feature is available at each location. It's turned off by default and must be activated per branch.

Enabling member self-pause

To make self-pause available to your members:

  1. Log into the Glofox Dashboard.
  2. Go to Settings > Memberships.
  3. Turn on the Member Self-Pause toggle for the relevant branch.

Repeat for each branch where you want to offer this feature.

Who can self-pause?

Members are eligible to self-pause if they have an active Recurring Unlimited or Recurring Restricted membership.

The following members cannot self-pause:

  • Members on a Single membership
  • Members whose membership is in its last billing cycle

How members pause a membership

Members can pause from the Glofox Member App or Web Portal:

  1. Open the app or Web Portal and go to your membership.
  2. Select Pause membership.
  3. Choose to pause immediately or select a future start date.
  4. Select your pause duration.
  5. Review the summary and confirm.

Once confirmed, the membership card updates to show:

Pause duration options

Available durations depend on the membership type:

Non-prorated memberships:

  • 1 week
  • 2 weeks
  • 3 weeks
  • 1 month

Prorated memberships:

  • 1 month
  • 2 months
  • 3 months
  • 4 months

Note: The "End on Date" option is not available for member self-pause.

Pause as an alternative to cancellation

When a member starts the cancellation flow, they may be shown a "Pause instead" prompt. This gives your studio a save opportunity before the member cancels their membership.

What happens to bookings during a pause?

Any bookings made using the paused membership that fall within the pause period are automatically cancelled when the pause takes effect. Members are informed of this on the confirmation screen.

Ending a pause early

Members cannot end their own pause early. If a member needs to resume their membership before the pause period ends, a staff admin must do this from the Dashboard.

Important notes

  • Cancellation is always available. The cancel option is never disabled. Only the pause action is disabled once a pause is active or scheduled.
  • Scheduling limits. Members cannot schedule a pause that starts in their last payment cycle.

Please note:

  • The unpause date can be set in the past, which may cause duplicate charges.
  • Credits are not granted after renewal when the unpause date and renewal date coincide.
  • Advanced credits dates are not correctly adjusted when pausing a membership that uses advanced credits.
