What kinds of Community articles can you create?

You can create different types of articles based on your needs and the content you want to present to your members.

  • Image - upload an image and include text, like a blog post or an announcement.
  • Video - upload a YouTube video to share with members.
  • External links - link to any external website, such as a Spotify playlist.
  • In-app web embeds - embed secure, web-based content directly inside Community posts, which members can view in-app via an iFrame code.
  • Share with friends - enables members to easily share content with friends by utilizing the native sharing capabilities of their devices.

How to create community articles for your Member App

Adding community to your Member App is a great way to keep your members engaged with your gym/studio. You can keep your community motivated to come back again and again by sharing your fitness blog posts, recipes and training tips directly to your 'Member App' 'Community Feed'.

To add 'Community' to your 'Member App' or 'Standalone App', follow these steps;

  1. Go to the 'Connect' icon
  2. Click on the 'Community' tab
  3. Click '+Add'
  4. Select whether you would like to create a video or image post.
    • If you select a video, enter the URL for the video (Only Youtube links will be playable in the App)
    • If you select an image, upload the image file
    • If you select External link, add a valid URL (the link will open when clicking on the image in the app)
    • If you select Share with friends, you will need to enter a valid URL in the URL field that will open the native sharing component in the member app allowing them to share studio content with friends.
    • If you want to embed content, choose the 'iFrame' post type and paste an HTTPS link. This content can also be put behind a paywall.
      • Note: if you don't see this option, contact your Customer Success Manager to get this enabled.
  5. Give your community post a title
  6. Add descriptive tags to your post. For example; fitness, trending, blog, tips.
  7. Choose to restrict the content to Members only (or all users)
  8. Click 'Save'

Please note:

It may take a few minutes for your images to appear in Community articles.

Adding images into your community articles

It is possible to add an image to your 'Community' article, however, it must be hosted on another site and linked in. To do that, follow these steps;

  1. From the dashboard, go to the 'Connect' icon
  2. Then go the 'Community' tab
  3. Click on the 'Community' you want to edit (or add a new one)
  4. Now locate the image you want to add in online, for example, we've used the Glofox logo which is nested on the Glofox website
  5. Right-click on the image and select, 'Open Image in New Tab' (This verbiage might differ depending on the browser you are using)
  6. From the new tab, copy the URL of the image
  7. Go back to the 'Message' and click the icon representing an image  icon.png
  8. Paste in the image URL, you will now see the image in your 'Message'
  9. Click 'Save'

Important reminder:

It is important that you do not add any upsell links to sell digital products within your app, as this can result in your app being rejected.

Please visit our help article for a guideline on what types of links can or cannot be included: Important information about external links and iFrame embeds in Community posts.
