Lead sourcing: Create custom sources and campaigns

Follow

Studios can create custom lead sources and campaigns to better understand where their leads come from and which marketing activities convert.

For example, you can record Facebook as the lead source and Black Friday as the campaign.

Why use custom lead sources and campaigns?

  • Track the channels you actually use. Add your own marketing channels instead of relying only on the preset list.
  • Measure conversion by channel. Custom sources appear in the Lead conversion report, allowing you to compare performance.
  • Track individual campaigns. Separate the marketing channel from the promotion or campaign running on that channel.

Create a custom lead source

  1. Go to Connect > Lead sources.
  2. Create a new lead source.
  3. Enter the name of the source, such as Facebook, Instagram, or Partner referral.
  4. Save the lead source.

The custom source is then available for selection when staff create or update a lead.

Custom lead sources also appear in Reports > Lead conversion report.

Archive and restore a lead source

Lead sources can be archived. When you archive a lead source:

  • It is removed from the Lead source dropdown when staff creates a new customer.
  • It remains visible on existing customer profiles.
  • It remains available in historical reports.

To make an archived source available again, restore it from the Lead sources page.

Create a lead campaign

  1. Go to Connect > Lead campaigns.
  2. Create a new campaign.
  3. Enter the campaign name, such as Black Friday, Summer challenge, or New Year promotion.
  4. Save the campaign.

When creating or updating a lead, select the relevant campaign in the Lead campaigns field.

A campaign can be used alongside a lead source. For example:

  • Lead source: Facebook
  • Lead campaign: Black Friday

Archive or restore a lead campaign

Lead campaigns can be archived. When you archive a lead campaign:

  • It is removed from the Lead campaign dropdown when staff creates a new customer.
  • It remains visible on existing customer profiles.
  • It remains available in historical reports.

Archived campaigns can be restored from the Lead campaigns page.

Applying lead sources and lead campaigns with the API

Leads created through the public API can include both a lead source and a lead campaign.

Use the following fields in the register endpoint:

  • marketing_source — the lead source
  • marketing_source_details — the lead campaign

This allows integrators to pass campaign information from external forms, advertising platforms, and other marketing tools.
